It might be small solace to New Yorkers shopping for ObamaCare policies, but the average premium increase in 2021 for individuals within the Empire State is 16.6 %, in contrast to 25 % in 39 other states.
The premium hikes – approved within the summer – ranged from as little as 8 percent for Aetna Life to 80.5 percent for that unlucky policyholders of Crystal Run Health Insurance Co., which covers areas of the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
New Yorkers also have more choices, with 17 providers.
Five states only have just one company offering policies.
The open-enrollment peruiod begins Nov. 1 both in New York and nationwide.
