2021 Most Stolen Vehicles

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) released its annual “Hot Wheels Report,” today identifying the 10 most stolen vehicles within the U.S.

The report examines vehicle theft data submitted by law enforcement towards the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and determines the vehicle make, model and model year most reported stolen in 2021.

“Unfortunately, Florida ranks one of the top for many cars stolen annually,” says Ellsworth Buck, V . p . of Insurance, Florida's top independent auto insurance agency.

The report not just examines the top cars stolen nationwide,
but also compares the most widely used cars stolen by state. The most common cars taken
in Florida include:

  1. Ford Pickup (Full-sized) 2006
  2. Nissan Altima 2021
  3. Toyota Camry 2021
  4. Toyota Corolla 2021
  5. Honda Accord 2021
  6. Honda Civic 2021
  7. Chevrolet Pickup (Full size) 2021
  8. Hyundai Sonata 2021
  9. Nissan Sentra 2021
  10. Hyundai Elantra 2021

According to the Fbi (FBI), in 2021 as many as 748, 841 were stolen across the U.S. Officials believe popular cars in many cases are the prospective of theft as their parts are easier to sell for money.

“Car thieves are always picking out new ways to steal cars, so it's good to protect them,” says Ellsworth Buck, V . p . of Insurance, Florida's largest independent car insurance agency.

The NICB has tips for a multi-step method of guard against
vehicle theft.

Common sense
this method may be the easiest and most cost-effective method to prevent potential thieves.

  • Don't leave your keys in the ignition
  • Close and lock your doors and windows
  • Park inside a well-lit area

Warning Device– if you wish to go one stage further, invest in a visible or audible device which alerts thieves your automobile remains safe and secure. Popular devices include:

  • Audible alarms
  • Steering column alarms
  • Steering wheel/brake pedal lock
  • Brake locks
  • Wheel locks
  • Theft deterrent decals- Identification markers in or on vehicle, VIN etching or micro dot marking

Immobilizing Device-this prevents thieves from bypassing your ignition and hot-wiring the automobile. Some electronic devices have computer chips in ignition keys. Other devices inhibit the flow of electricity or fuel towards the engine until a concealed switch of button is activated. Types of they are listed.

  • Kill switches
  • Starter, ignition and fuel pump disablers
  • Wireless ignition authentication

Tracking Device-emits
a signal to police or a monitoring station when the vehicle is stolen. Tracking
products are extremely effective in helping authorities recover stolen vehicles. Some
systems employ telematics which combine GPS and wireless technologies to allow
remote monitoring of a vehicle. If the vehicle is moved, the machine will alert
